As you can imagine I receive a lot of emails from travel consumers. I want to help if I can, but they are some questions which get asked a lot. So I thought I would create this page highlighting the frequently asked questions and hopefully this will help more of you.

Where is the best place to exchange currency on the high street?
The best rates are usually where the money is ordered online, delivered to your home address. It usually takes up to two weeks for your money to be delivered. Alternatively, shop around on the high street for the best rates. Never exchange currency at the airport; you will not get a good rate.
Will I be financially protected if I paid for my holiday using my debit card?
The only debit card that offers some form of protection is the Visa Debit card. The chargeback scheme that visa operate may help you get your money refunded. All other debit cards do not offer any form of protection so it is advised to use a credit card when booking flights or accommodation.
How do I know if a country is safe to visit?
My advice is to check the Foreign, Commonwealth Office website, which has a search by country feature that will tell you tons of information about your chosen holiday destination. It’ll include information on crime, terrorism and provide any advice that you will need to bear in mind.
Can I change the name on my airline ticket?
The airlines will not completely change the name on the ticket and will ask you to re-book. If it is a mistake and you have misspelt any part of your name then they may change it and charge you an administration fee. Airlines are very strict because of flight security.
How do I renew my European Health Insurance card?
You can renew a EHIC up to 6 months before its expiry date, or at any time after. The date is printed on the front of the card. You can apply online, by calling 0845 606 2030 or by picking up an form from the Post Office. Make sure you use the official website and do not pay, the card is free.
How do I complain about my holiday?
If you have booked a package holiday then you should complain in the resort to your representative who will take up your complaint. They should give you an official complaint form and follow it up when you return home. Make sure you keep a copy of any documentation and evidence.
To complain about a travel company in general, initially contact them and ask for their complaints policy, this will assist you in making your complaint official. Make sure you send any letters recorded delivery, and keep a photocopy of any evidence or documentation.
