Earlier this month I launched the Travel Rants Sociable Newsletter with the aim of sharing the best travel content and showcasing travel startups and bloggers. This issue I feature travel startup Joobili and introduce you to Max of Istanbul Trails.
Please visit our sponsor Hotel Calculator, where you can compare hotels deals in over 13,000 cities across the world.
Feel free to join in these discussions
The Travel Rants Flickr photograph group has nearly 5,000 photos uploaded but I would like to reach 10,000 by the end of the year. So we would appreciate it if you could add any travel photos that you have uploaded on Flickr to our group.

Introducing Istanbul Trails
When I am looking for destination information I prefer to read content that is written by locals or travellers who are regular visitors to the destination. It is a real shame that not many local people write blogs about their towns and cities.
This issue we feature Max Forlani, who writes about his home city of Istanbul on the excellent Istanbul Trails. When I am visiting a new place I want to be inspired and emerge myself in information which will help me get around and find the best tourist attractions.
This site does just that.
The blog is easy to navigate around and includes some great content including guides on the Basilica Cistern, Galata Tower an the island of Büyükada. I would 100% recommend Istanbul Trails to anyone visiting the city, be it for business or leisure.

City tours have come a long way from trudging after a man with an umbrella across town and are now more accessible than ever. You can download tours from the website onto your computer and transfer them to your iPod, MP3 or mobile phone music player. This enables you to take a tour at your convenience.
Travel Rants subscribers receive a 10% discount on all audio tours. Quote: TR123

Must read travel tips for skiing holidays
The ski season is in full flight so this issue we bring you the best travel tips for those going on a skiing holiday during February and March. Thank you to everyone who submitted their favourites on Twitter, but here are my favourites.
Beginner skiing tips
You could save money on lessons by practicing on indoor snow slopes in the UK. It can help you get used to skiing and snow boarding, which means you get more powder for your pound on holiday. Crystal Ski
When you book your resort, look at a map of the ski runs. You want green runs that aren't crossed by black runs, otherwise you could find yourself a novice skier having to navigate across a very steep slope - Travel Weekly
General skiing tips
Of course style is important and practicality is paramount, but comfort is a priority if you’re crash prone. Hi-tech gear means you can stay on the slopes all day without getting soggy and cold. This means Dainese over Dior; Spider trumps Chanel. Mr & Mrs Smith
If you live in London or the South-East, you can green your ski trip by getting the Eurostar's 'snow train' to the slopes. If you are new to skiing, take lessons and go for a one-piece so you don't get snow in your trousers. Give it at least 3 days. Roaming Tales
Skiing health tips
Intermediate adult skiers should have a 2-hour private lesson near the beginning of each week's holiday to remind, but be careful after a few days skiing, your muscles will be tired, always the most 'dangerous' if you're not fit. Wine Travel
Make sure your insurance covers you, hit the snowpark or go outside the piste marker poles and some don't. If taking your own equipment, check airline T&Cs for costs. Some have free carriage others cost more than flight - Eurapart
