I am Darren Cronian, blogger of Travel Rants.

One question I am asked regularly is why I started writing this blog, and it is a good question. In 2005, I visited a high-street travel agency. I was not impressed with their customer service and felt that the travel agent had no interest in helping me find a holiday.

I arrived home, annoyed, and wanted to rant.

I have learnt a lot about the travel industry, and continue to learn. Considering I have no working experience of the industry, and the blog is written in my spare time, I have been quoted in a number of national newspapers and interviewed on BBC Radio.

In April 2008, I won best travel consumer blog in the Travolution Awards.

My interests

My travels include Australia, Malaysia, Norway, and Czech Republic. I enjoy watching sport, walking, and the outdoors, and I have a list as long as your arm of destinations I want to visit. My favourite travel moments have to be snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef, and climbing over Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Where I am based

I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I sometimes wish I were based in London as I have turned down many television and radio interviews because I am located up North. I love living in Yorkshire though and I am proud to be from this part of the country.
