I am never surprised how talented and dedicated travel bloggers are and after searching through my RSS reader I have found six blogs posts which I thought were well worth promoting on the travel rants blog carnival.

Crazy flight attendants, Booze bans and the future of KLM

Annie of the London underground diary writes about the ban on alcoholic drinks on the London Underground. Not being a regular visitor to London I never knew that you could drink alcohol on public transport, but this decision hasn’t gone down well.

Anil from Foxnomad discusses the pros and cons of using money rather than credit and debit cards whilst on your travels. Personally, I wouldn’t take just foreign currency because if you loose it, your stranded – it’s best to take a debit or credit card, travellers cheques, and some currency.

Karen from Wandalust asks for your definitions of a hostel because it’s causing some confusion amongst hotel and hostel booking sites. A hostel to me is a form of budget accommodation where you share a room with other travellers and use the same kitchen for food preparation.

Guido from the Happy Hotelier, asks about the future of his countries national airline KLM, now that Air France have taken control. It’s not very often I receive emails to congratulate airlines for their excellent customer service, but KLM is one of them.

Jaunted features a crazy story about an flight attendant for Northwest airlines in the United States, who attempted to set fire to toilet paper in the lavatory. Eder Rojas could get up to twenty years in prison for his idiotic stunt that put passengers lives at risk.

Finally..

Pam from the Nerds eye view blog writes some great tips about how to keep your blog updated when you are not travelling. Just because your once in a lifetime trip has come to an end it doesn’t mean you cannot keep writing - write blog posts to provide travel advice on the destinations you visited.

Please feel free to comment on any of the blog posts featured.

I’ve received a few complaints about the new format of the travel rants blog carnival, mainly by the ranting hotelier, that’s Guido’s new name now. Joking aside, I have gone back to the old format of reviewing blog posts and will be choosing my favourites, twice a month.

To search for my favourite blog posts I will be relying on my RSS reader and Twitter, so please contact me with your blog details or twitter ID, if you would like to be featured. The first set of reviews will be tomorrow, but I need to start searching for blog posts to feature in the next carnival in a few weeks time.

I promise to get this travel blog carnival swinging this weekend.

The original Travel Rants Carnival promoted over 80 new and established travel blogs but keeping it going was becoming time consuming, so I have decided to change the format. On the first Sunday of every month I will review five established or start-up travel sites or blogs.

New look Travel Rants Blog Carnival

This carnival is open to any non-commercial and commercial holiday and travel website and all you have to do is send me a link to your website or blog via my contact form. Before you send your submission please be aware that the reviews will be 100% honest, no fluffy reviews.

The first set of reviews will be this Sunday, so your submission must be received before Midnight on Saturday. The travel blogging community is welcome to participate by writing their own reviews or comment on my reviews as I am sure not everyone will agree with me.

If you have any questions please leave them in the comments.

Its carnival time and this week’s travel blog reviews were written by Guido, the Happy Hotelier. Thanks to everyone who submitted their favourite blog posts, there’s some great content out there and you can tell that bloggers really put in a lot of effort.

Unfortunately, the other chosen group blogger didn’t have time to write any reviews this week, so I have chosen a few blog posts that caught my attention. Nathan of the Away Network has written about his experiences of Miami International airport – I can’t wait to visit JFK airport now, not.

Carl of the Southpoint blog writes about Mississippi Valley’s oldest house and a ghost town called Rodney, which sounds like an erm fun place to visit on your travels. Finally, Karen from the Europe a la carte blog writes about the hazards of booking car hire or you could end up seriously out of pocket.

Please read the instructions thoroughly before submitting your favourite blog post.

Apologies for the lack of travel blog carnival this week – it was my birthday this weekend and I had no intention of turning on the laptop. To keep the carnival rolling to week 15, I am in need of 10 more group bloggers to help review and write a summary of their favourite blog posts submitted.

Travel Blog Carnival Group Bloggers wanted

Please could you contact me with your name and blog web address and I will be in touch with further instructions. Once we reach week 15, I’ll be getting as many bloggers together as I can to discuss the future of this project and evaluate how effective it was for sharing travel content.

Back to normal on Saturday with an overview of this weeks review posts.

The carnival arrives, and it’s week 6, and I am in the need for some travel carnival group bloggers, as the remaining bloggers are too busy, so if your interested in choosing the best travel content that’s out there and writing a summary on your own blog, then do get in touch.

This week it’s Tracy, from Travelling Betty and Erica from the Blissful travel blog.

Another great week of content. I’d like to receive feedback from those of you who have had your blog post featured by the group, please leave your comments – have you seen an increase in visitors and comments? Let me know.

Please read the instructions thoroughly before submitting your blog post.

Here’s me sat waiting for submissions, and then late Friday, everyone starts to send in their blog post submissions for the carnival – so, to avoid the confusion the deadline for sending in your blog posts is midnight [GMT] every Tuesday, for blog posts written in the previous 7 days. So get submitting.
