You will not find me sticking up for travel agencies very often but I was reading a news article today and noticed one comment from a consumer who blamed a travel agent because they had not told him that the hotel did not have laundry services and this would be a problem with kids.

Consumers know your holiday requirements

Get your requirements down on paper

When you walk into a travel agency you are responsible for giving your holiday requirements, like most people, they cannot mind read. Before you start to search for a holiday, write down what you want to get out of your holiday and if you have kids, bear them in mind too.

Research before booking

Before you make any booking, do your research on the resort and accommodation. Remember you get what you pay for in life, so do not expect the Ritz when you have paid £299 for a week all-inclusive holiday on the Costa Brava. Be realistic and know what you are getting for your money.

Feel free to add any tips that you have.

One of the things that annoy us most is when people say things like “I will not travel from Gatwick” then come in and tell us that found the holiday they want and then when questioned admit it was from Gatwick. If you change your scope or wants then you need to let the agent know.

Other thing is to be realistic, we are not telling you this matches your budget to be awkward, yes you friend did go there in May for 300 pounds but it now July and it will cost you 500.
