I want to thank the travel agents who have left comments on the Freedom Direct Holidays collapse post and have helped the consumers affected. It’s an excellent reflection on the travel industry that they’re people willing to give up their spare time.

Travel agents coming together to help consumers

Thank you

Some of you were writing comments on a weekend and into the evening. I do not want to mention anyone in particular, you all know who you are, and I understand why that some of you prefer to keep anonymous.

For me it was one of the most challenging posts that I have had to moderate; and even though I do not like removing comments, some had to be deleted, and some edited because they were either full of profanities or libelous.

Being part of a community

While I love to read every single comment on the blog, it made me proud to be part of this community that wants to help. So, well done, thanks again, and together let’s hope we can improve the experience for travel consumers.

With no comments (on a post that is 5 days old) other than your post of appreciation, you can see the irony that sometimes working in travel and helping people is thankless task. Quick to complain but not so quick to say thank you.

@ Julia

I wasn’t expecting any one to comment, and I haven’t directed anyone from the Freedom Direct post to this post, most of them are still busy trying to find out how to receive a refund ;)

This was my thank you to those who have participated in the posts when companies have gone bust. I am often critical of the industry, but felt it was an opportunity to thank those involved.

Good move by the agents, this shows humane nature and will help the travel industry a lot.
