Hotels not properly maintained. How hard is it for the hotel management to schedule things like air conditioner cleanings, etc. A moldy stinky buzzy air conditioner can ruin your entire stay. Theres thousands of people in and out of hotels, if theres isnt a plan to clean and maintain everything in a few years the hotel will be an absolute nightmare.
Stupid stuff like noisy doors. How can a hotel be designed so that the doors freaking slam and disturb you everytime they open. Do they just not give a shit or are they stupid?

We who work at hotels hate people who put up DND signs and then bitch that their room wasn't cleaned. We hate people who don't understand that the reason hotels are forced to charge for room service is because of the cheapskates who won't tip, leaving the room service attendant to live off $4 an hour. We hate people who expect things for free like breakfast. We hate people who insist things like noisy rooms, expensive room service and no free wifi are the personal fault of the front desk agent. Sad to say that clearly the hotel industry makes us employees just hate...people.

@ Dee

That’s very true, but it just feels like it’s free. Also remember that the price of the hotel room has not gone down when breakfast rates were introduced, so you are paying more.

Just a side note, I don't know about US hotels but in Australia, while many hotels used to include breakfast in the cost, that cost was always accounted for in the overall price of the room. It was never 'free'. Nowadawys, it tends to be a separate charge so that those who do not wish to dine in the hotel, are not obliged to nor charged for it, and those who do can simply put it on their room account, it's that easy (or pay cash). I've worked in hotels for 7 years and this has been the case in most hotels I have worked for =]
