Online voting has opened for the travel rants consumer awards. I have been overwhelmed with emails from travel companies wanting me to nominate them, so I wanted to confirm that the majority of these sites I have used in some form in the last 12 months.

Voting opens for the Travel Rants consumer awards

Simply scroll down to the appropriate category and choose your favourites.

[poll id="5"]

[poll id="6"]

[poll id="7"]

[poll id="8"]

[poll id="9"]

[poll id="10"]

[poll id="11"]

[poll id="12"]

[poll id="13"]

[poll id="14"]

The full list of nominee’s can be found here.

Like I mentioned before this a little bit of fun, it’s not the Oscar’s, and there’s nothing stopping nominee’s voting for themselves, just try and share the love and vote for other nominee’s within the different categories.

You will be able to follow the voting live, but I will announce the winners on Monday.

Please note:
Whilst this is a fun vote, I am sure that some people will try and ruin the fun for everyone else, so I should have mentioned earlier that the polls are tracked by IP address and the votes are being monitored.

Darren, thanks for the nomination. A lot of great travel content sites for consumers to choose from.

Will Awards be announced on Monday 8 December?

I’m supposed to want to win these kind of awards but I have so many issues around contests and being a geeky, unpopular adolescent that never got picked…:)

But seriously thanks for putting this together! Its a good way to get out of the rut and explore what other people are doing from this list!

@ Karen

Yep, 8 December, sometime during the day, I’ll shut off voting at midnight.

@ Elliott

It sounds like me, I was always chosen last for the football! It is just a little bit of fun, to end the year off. Nothing like a little competition to keep people blogging and learning about new sites and blogs.

I was a band nerd, so I feel your pain Elliott :) I am digging learning about these other sites. Fantastic list, Darren. Thanks for including us.

Wow, nearly 400 votes already, not bad for the first day of voting. I think it’ll quieten down a little in a few days. Some good battles going on.

OMG! I can not believe I have been nominated with all the “big wigs” of travel. Thanks, Darren , wow!

I am the only one who is a single writer, ( not multiple writers or corporation), just an ordinary “mum” who started a blog to share our story of how a family can travel the world on 25K a year. I know I have no chance of winning, but this truly is one of those times where it is such an honor just to be nominated.

I really, really appreciate your nomination! It is not easy blogging while traveling and homeschooling (or even just finding free wifi! on the move!) so being here with all these great websites that I admire, means so much and gives me encouragement!

I really love people who have a passion for travel and all the travel bloggers that write their hearts out and those that read us!

@ Soultravelers3

Not a problem, I enjoy reading about your travels, sometimes it makes me jealous, sometimes it makes me smile and happy. Well worth the nomination.

@ Guido

Well I am a geek ;)

It’s a Wordpress plugin I am using for the polls, it’s really easy to use.

Lonely Planet has just launched a new site, it now lets you look at hotels and plan trips which is pretty good. There’s still the same old stuff you’d expect and a few things missing that they could have, but it’s defo better. I’ve been playing with the maps and checking pics. Well worth a look. Soultravelers3, I hadn’t heard of your blog but it sounds great, off to have a read

You might want to disclose that you work for Lonely Planet. :)

Oh dear, you do not get, that it’s ‘fun’ do you? It’s not a blog awards, it’s a selection of sites I have used or read in the last 12 months. Maybe one year I will do a blog awards, since no one does awards for blogs.

I’m a big fan of SoulTravelers 3, and would encourage those unfamilar with this blog to give it a read.

They’ve given me a lot to shoot for with my 3 month old travel inspired blog. It definitely has a ton of room for improvement, but we’re learning as we go.

Anyway, congrats & best of luck to all nominees!

Best,
Suz (a.k.a. Lil’ Boozie)

Well, there went our votes from the City of Baton Rouge and the State of Louisiana. The IP address is the same for both networks. My inbox is getting full with emails from people trying to vote for Traveling Mamas but it shows that they’ve already voted. Dang it. Well, good luck everyone.

What? No Rick Steves? The forum there is massive, but only if you are going to Europe of course.

There are some quality ones in the list. Course, I cater to the independent ones like Soultravelers3 that travel firsthand…
