The Travel Rants blog carnival is a monthly feature that promotes great travel content written by bloggers. This month’s carnival theme is ‘hotels’ and I have found five blog posts that I would like to share with readers.

World’s most haunted, luxury and best designed hotels

The world’s 50 most decadent hotels

Maybe one day I will win the lottery and be able to stay in one of these fabulous hotels. With prices ranging from £300 – £3,500 a night, you would have to have a nice bank balance to stay in these hotels. My favourite is the four seasons Whistler resort, stunning views and a modest £2,000 a night.

Which hotel would you like to stay in?

Malaysia’s First World Hotel is First in Sheer Size

I’ve been to Malaysia and I love the people and the country, the hotels are state of the art, and unlike London hotels, not a crack in the wall or dirty carpet to be found. However, Malaysia’s largest hotel looks rather ugly and unattractive.

What do you think?

Top 10: Boutique Hotel Designers

A bloggers budget does not stretch to a boutique or luxury hotel but some of these hotel rooms look magnificent. A lot of time and effort has obviously gone into the design, just like this post, which is an in-depth look ten-boutique hotel designers.

Have you stayed in a boutique hotel?

Would you want to stay here? Wait for it …

An hilarious post on Gadling that displays a photograph and a quote a B&B’s website. This little bed and breakfast looks quaint, and well maintained but look at the photograph properly, and is that a nuclear reactor in the background.

Is this for real?

Five of the world’s most haunted hotels

Believe in ghosts or not, but I do not think I would like to stay in any of these haunted hotels. The hotel girl asks if it is just a marketing ploy. I wonder if people search specifically for a haunted hotel. An interesting Halloween run down of five of the world’s most haunted hotels.

Would you stay or have you stayed haunted hotel?

Ha – I posted that Gadling thing straight after reading it too. And to think I’d have missed it if I wasn’t glued to US election coverage :)

It seems kind of accurate from google maps, but the photo looks so fake. Maybe they’ve done something to exaggerate how close the power plant is. I wonder if the owners of the hotel will pick up on all this…

@ Nathan

I could not find any reviews on Trip Advisor for it neither. It’s pretty funny, but whoa could you imagine if it was that close and you were staying there. Haha.

@Nick – i was sceptical too, but follow Gadling’s google maps link. It doesn’t have to be a reactor to have a cooling tower. I think the photo has been messed with but there’s definitely a big cooling tower near to the hotel.

That is well funny! I wonder if the hotel owners know about this attention that the B&B is getting. I loved the hotels Darren, the one in Thailand was my favourite and only $1800 a night, cheap as chips.

Darren,

There are whole sites out there devoted to haunted hotels (hauntedhotelguide.com for starters), so it does seem that there is a demand for visitations from the undead in the accommodation industry. It will, however, be a long while before Mr & Mrs Smith launches ‘Boutique Hotels – The Demonic Collection’, I dare say. Although we have just introduced one inn, The Ragged Cot which is apparently also home to the ghost of a murderous former landlord and highwayman. The staff swear to constant spooky goings-on…

I’ve been to – but never stayed in the Haunted Hotel in San Antonio. I was freakishly looking for ghosts and trying to avoid the reception crew. I didn’t see one – but I sure tried!

Emiy Haile of BudgetTravel has a great story about the revamped guesthouses in the mountains of Transylvania, and a special Halloween dinner in the town where Vlad the Impaler was born:

Do you have to pay more for the extra room guest in a haunted hotel?
