What really annoys me about the anti Ryanair lobby is that they forget that most airlines do exactly the same as Ryanair. You get the basic 15kg hold luggage, if you want extra you pay. EG: Thomson, Easyjet, Thomascook, Mytravel. If you're overweight, you're charged for it. The taxes are the same as any other airline, the difference being is that ryanair add them on top of the advertised price. ( Does anybody know what "FROM " means ?) . It's a ploy used by every retailer in the world to intice you into their world of goodies. However. Ryanir DO have flights for £1, £10, £20 including taxes and i have flew on many of them. I actually went to Madrid for 2p and that was including taxes. The cattle truck type queues to board, the hard sell onboard and the feeling of " Christ was that a hurricane that hit me " when reaching your destination are worth it for bloody 2p. It seems to me that the people who do the moaning about this airline are the people who never use them. If you want luxury, glamour model cabin staff and free drinks, then book with BA or the likes, who may i add are never out of the news because of one disaster or another. If you want it cheap, on time and crew who can only speak broken English, then fly Ryanair. Like anything in life, you get what you pay for ! I was watching a consumer programme on the BBC and they said exactly the same. They compared Easy Jet though and when you added up everything it was actually cheaper to fly with British Airways. Your right we think about the starting price but forget the total amount. I had a friend call me to gloat about his £19 return flight to Dublin. I asked him how much he paid in total, his reply oh, it was £108 each but that was tax and baggage. I then told him that the flight wasn't £19. He wasn't impressed that I had put a dampner on his "bargain flight" Nick that is a bloody good point you have raised here.

I said a short while ago the who in there right mind would of come up with a business plan that said, lets treat customers badly, hide the true price, have a silly start price.. But everyone will love us and we will get loads of business. Oh and why we are at it lets slag everyone else off. It does boil down to price but people look at the lead price, not total. So if you look this way, Venice 28 October - 3 November for 2 people. Ryanair looks good at £14.99 per person each way. But then you add a bag each, check in charge, credit card fees, airport fees, taxes, etc etc. The final price is over £202.00 pounds for 2. So then on top of this I add a hassle fee, to cover the fact I will buy a drink and I am flying into an airport over 1 hour away and things like this, so add £10 each... or more. Then I look round so next best is British Airways, which includes baggage, drinks and flies some where close to where I am heading for the grand total of £206. I done this several times and normally find another airline cheaper or with in 10 percent of Ryanair's price. Having said that, I am flying Ryanair next month for the first time in 11 years. The only reason is they are the only airline that goes where I want to. It been said before Price is King.
