When you read this I will probably be sat in a pub, or relaxing reading a book in my tent – this weekend I am taking some time away and I’ll be in Great Langdale in the Lake District National Park. You’ll find me at the National Trust campsite between Crinkle Crags, and the Langdale Pikes.

I’d like to know where you go to relax and unwind for a short break and why is it so special?
Have a great weekend..

Hope you have a great time.
My 3 all time favs for the UK would be:
Lake District (Ambleside / Elterwater)
Northumrian Coast (warkworth / Bamburgh / Holy Island)
Cotswolds
These places are just awesome for relaxing.

I personally love to go to Orcas Island (in the San Jan Islands in Washington State, USA,) especially during the winter when it’s less busy. It’s not too far from Seattle, so I can get up there for a short break without wasting too much time on traveling. There is a campground on the northwest part of the island that has some great little cabins right on the beach. You can relax for a few days, far away from cell phones, internet, and life in general.

The Lakes are fantastic, love the place, its just a shame it gets so much rain! I am back from my trip there, was hoping to stay til later tongiht but the wind and rain cut short our trip.
@ Austin
Orcas Island sounds great. Plenty of places for camping? I need to get over to the US, even if I have to row over the Atlantic! ![]()

I love weekend breaks! From Atlanta I love to hit the Delano in Miami, the Mondrian in Scottsdale and the Gansevoort in NYC. I’m into more the hip boutique hotels.

@Darren
There is camping right near the beach at the place I went, and I know that there is camping at many other places on the island. There’s several other great islands where you can camp AND get a chance to see the orcas.

Living in Cardiff, South Wales leave me really spoilt for choice. A great weekend away normally involves the tent (helps to keep things basic some times) and the Pembrokeshire coast.

@ Gareth
Yes, I love the Pembrokeshire coast, visited that area alot when I was younger.
P.s.
Apologies for the comment layout at the moment, I’m in the process of changing it, usually Sunday’s are the quiestest time to make changes.

I’ve taken many trips around the world for 3-4 days. Europe from the US East Coast is a good bet, as is east Asia (Hong Kong, Philippines).

I love to do weekend city breaks, recently I went to Montpellier and it was beautiful.
But on a regular basis I like going to the coast, as I was brought up near the sea I find that it is a real draw. The South West Coast Path, around Cornwall and Devon, has some spectacular scenery, and sitting watching the sea can be very relaxing.

There is nothing like spending a weekend in the mountains. The Great Smokey Mountains National Park of East Tennessee is the most visited National Park in the United States. Just a few days with your feet proped up on the rail of a porch while you watch the squirrels play is my kind of get-a-way time. There is so much to do you will never get bored. The shopping is fabulous and the shows are really good. Between all the options to hike, play golf, ride go carts, horse back ride, take a helicopter ride, miniature golf, eat, go to shows - well you get the idea. The best way to do this is to stay in a cabin. The best cabins the area has to offer can be found at EdenCrest.com. Not only are they beautiful but the staff at Eden Crest is very friendly. You will have a great time.
