Apparently a couple have been banned from booking another cruise with Royal Caribbean due to their constant complaining. It seems that the couple have taken six cruises with the company since 2004, and have claimed compensation after every cruise.

Royal Caribbean bans couple for constant complaining

It’s important that you complain about any issues and speak with the travel company as soon as the incidents occur, not after you depart but in this scenario would you have booked with another company after having bad experiences on the first or second cruise.

I understand that some of the complaints raised were genuine and the couple were compensated, but the company suggest that they disagreed with the majority of complaints. I keep asking myself did Royal Caribbean make the right decision to ban the couple.

It’s been suggested that the couple are serial complainers, if this is the case, then yes, I agree with the ban, but it depends on the complaints raised. What is your opinion, should consumers be banned for complaining too much, or would you simply not use the company again.

After six times, and experiencing issues for which they expect compensation, I’d say that the cruise line was right to ban them. Any normal person would stop taking Royal Caribbean after the 2nd or 3rd bad cruise. If they continue to go on the cruises, then I’d say they are probably just looking to cruise for free, probably by fabricating complaints.

They sound like a bunch of whingers. I would have given them a second chance, but 3rd time you would book with someone else.

I’m sorry… They’ve discovered a way to benefit in some way, after having taken a cruise. What a racket. I took a Royal cruise 18 mos. ago, and had a great time. Could I have complained about some things (glass was cracked on our balcony; some areas seemed worn and dated, etc.)? Sure… but none were significant enough to waste my time. They provided a service, in good and acceptable fashion and I paid a fair price for a 5-day vacation.

I agree with Barbara. Who would willingly travel a cruise line 6 times knowing they’ll file a complaint each time. It reeks of suspicion that the couple would not seek another company. Royal Caribbean was right to ban them in this case.

I would venture to guess they are from New York or New Jersey. While living in South Florida for a while, they were the chronic complainers down there as well. Excuse me if I am wrong…but that is probably a good guess.

Criusing was not as safe as I thought ! when I had a problem with my visa on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the far east I was dumped off the ship at a container port 2hrs from Shanghai and left there alone with no assistance from the crew. Why was there no contingency in place for this kind of problem arising ? Complaing to Royal Caribbean has been friutless with no explanations offered. Before a cruise there is loads of information supplied as to how many formal outfits you may need ! and how much you are expected to tip ! but not enough about important things like visas.. Has anyone else suffered like this

If the experience was so bad that they complained after each and every cruise, why did they keep coming back, there are plenty of cruise companies! This smells fishy…

I used to work in a small hotel restaurant in Bornemouth England. The restaurant had a seniors lunch for 1 pound and 50 pence. The same couple came ever day for lunch and after every meal complained about either the price or something else. Not just once or twice but every single day. At the end of the month the General Manager decided enough was enough. While they had guests at their table and were busy compalining to them that they had to pay 1.50 for lunch, the General Manager approached them. He informed them that their meal for that day was comp and had told them to leave and NEVER to return. The clients tried to complain but we just told them to leave in front of everyone.

We later heard that they were barred from almost every other restaurant in the city because they do the same thing. If you keep complaining, don’t return as it is obviously not something or somewhere you do not like to do , eat at or go to.

Susan & Duane — Being they are from Ohio simply demonstrates, as I have often said, you do not have to be a New Yorker to behave like a New Yorker.

Another reason to ban complainers is their nagging, bullying, huffing, puffing, whining and posturing frequently ruins a good time for everyone within ear-shot of their shrill-voiced range. To paraphrase the chief Vogan in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Being thrown overboard to the sharks is too good for them.
