I am never surprised how talented and dedicated travel bloggers are and after searching through my RSS reader I have found six blogs posts which I thought were well worth promoting on the travel rants blog carnival.

Annie of the London underground diary writes about the ban on alcoholic drinks on the London Underground. Not being a regular visitor to London I never knew that you could drink alcohol on public transport, but this decision hasn’t gone down well.
Anil from Foxnomad discusses the pros and cons of using money rather than credit and debit cards whilst on your travels. Personally, I wouldn’t take just foreign currency because if you loose it, your stranded – it’s best to take a debit or credit card, travellers cheques, and some currency.
Karen from Wandalust asks for your definitions of a hostel because it’s causing some confusion amongst hotel and hostel booking sites. A hostel to me is a form of budget accommodation where you share a room with other travellers and use the same kitchen for food preparation.
Guido from the Happy Hotelier, asks about the future of his countries national airline KLM, now that Air France have taken control. It’s not very often I receive emails to congratulate airlines for their excellent customer service, but KLM is one of them.
Jaunted features a crazy story about an flight attendant for Northwest airlines in the United States, who attempted to set fire to toilet paper in the lavatory. Eder Rojas could get up to twenty years in prison for his idiotic stunt that put passengers lives at risk.
Finally..
Pam from the Nerds eye view blog writes some great tips about how to keep your blog updated when you are not travelling. Just because your once in a lifetime trip has come to an end it doesn’t mean you cannot keep writing - write blog posts to provide travel advice on the destinations you visited.
Please feel free to comment on any of the blog posts featured.

Cheers Travel Rants - I spose to say the drinks ban “hasn’t gone down well” is an underestimate. But then what do you expect from some people who vote for a clown without thinking of the consequence that has. All I say is Don’t Blame Me, I Didn’t Vote Boris

Hey kudos friend!
You have done it!

@ Annie
That Boris has a lot to answer for huh?
I wasn’t aware that those circle parties existed on the tube, sounds like fun!

Darren your definition of a hostel is pretty accurate for the traditional UK Youth Hostel. However the Generator Hostel in Berlin where I stayed while attending the recent Travel Blogger Summit didn’t have shared kitchen facilities and had private twin rooms with the option of a private ensuite bathroom. So is the Generator not really a hostel?
foxnomad | 17 May, 2008 at 6:17 pm
Thank you Darren - yes, I agree under most circumstances a credit card will get you convenience and fraud protection.
A temporary card (if your bank provides them) would be a good bet..

@ Karen
I woul say that the Generator is not really a hostel, and I think there’s a similar names hostel in London as well.
@ Foxnomad
I’m not sure we have temp cards here but the best bank to use if you travel abroad alot is the Nationwide in the UK, because it’s free to withdraw money abroad.

Darren
KLM Air france was a merger not a take over, hence why the french goverment had to sell it’s shares. Reduced share holding from 54% to 18%. This means the largest share holders from the orginal airlines is the KLM share holders.

@ Nick
Whoops my mistake (again)
So does this mean we’ll not see any change on KLM, i.e. branding, customer service etc.?
