Here’s me sat waiting for submissions, and then late Friday, everyone starts to send in their blog post submissions for the carnival – so, to avoid the confusion the deadline for sending in your blog posts is midnight [GMT] every Tuesday, for blog posts written in the previous 7 days. So get submitting.

Thanks to Erica of Blissful Travel, Kevin from Travolution, Gudrun of Kango, Carianne of the Traveling Cari, and Barbara from Hole in the Donut for writing their summaries at the last minute, without these bloggers we wouldn’t have a carnival this week.

It was definitely some great content this week. I enjoyed reading all the posts and reviews. Lovely picture btw.

I agree with Erica, it was hard to choose with all the good submissions this week. I find it interesting to see the ones that got chosen multiple times — interesting how they struck chords with readers for similar and different reasons. I definitely look forward to seeing this carnival continue.
Darren Cronian | 27 January, 2008 at 6:58 pm
It’ll be interesting to see how many blog submissions we get this week. Week 1 and 2 went well, week 3 was quiet, and week 4 picked up.
As I was discussing with Cari on Facebook, alot of bloggers think that by writing alone it’ll send readers to their blog, but without networking it won’t become successful.
Hopefully showcasing the best of travel blog content we’ll help each other.

Bonjour Darren,
What about the choice for the Travel Carnival Logo ???
Have a good day
Darren Cronian | 28 January, 2008 at 11:05 am
I’m going to give the project a couple more weeks to see how many submissions we continue to receive. We could then hold a competition for people to design and choose their favourite logos for the carnival project.
What do you think?
Claude | 28 January, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Good idea Darren.
Let’s built the content and them we will make a contest logo.
foxnomad | 28 January, 2008 at 11:28 pm
Thank you to everyone who selected my posts, it is very much appreciated.

No probelm Anil.
Can I ask - and be honest.
Have you found an increase in visitors or comments since you signed up for the travel blog carnival?
Rohan | 30 January, 2008 at 1:29 am
I love reading these articles every week.
Darren is there a way you could list all of these blog posts so we can come abck and read them at some point?
Darren Cronian | 30 January, 2008 at 1:30 am
I’m glad you enjoy reading them Rohan.
Yes, I am thinking about how I can archive these posts and blog posts. I don’t want to spend too much time on it though until I am confident that the blog carnival can be successful and continue past the trial period.
Darren Cronian | 30 January, 2008 at 3:53 am
Ok folks,
I have created an archive of all travel blog carnival posts;
http://www.travel-rants.com/category/travel-blog-carnival/
I would be really grateful if you would be kind enough to link to this from your sidebar or blog or whatever
Thanks.

This is a great blog i liked the information but more so the cartoon character on the header banner. I really enjoyed reading it and will be coming back again. Probably link back
Darren Cronian | 30 January, 2008 at 6:15 am
Thanks Magdalene for the kind comments.
The header will be changing soon, but Mr Rants [the cartoon character] will remain in the new funky design.
Darren Cronian | 30 January, 2008 at 6:28 am
Me again
Emails sent to the Guardian, Times, USA Today, and Toronto Star, to try and raise the profile of the carnival a little bit.
If you know of any contacts in the media, send them here and we will report back with any results.
foxnomad | 30 January, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Hi Darren,
I’ve seen a slight increase (about 50 extra unique hits) per day since the carnival began.
foxnomad | 30 January, 2008 at 3:55 pm
I should also add that the great benefit is that it has helped me to connect with other travel bloggers and read their insights.
My blogroll has grown and so has inspiration for my writing.
Darren Cronian | 30 January, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Anil, well 50 extra hits, is better than none at all so that’s good news.
I’d appreciate it if anyone else could monitor / inform me what traffic increases they are seeing.
foxnomad | 30 January, 2008 at 7:14 pm
I completely agree, every new reader is great!
