Tonight I took a trip around the streets of London and Amsterdam and I flew there, but it didn’t cost me a penny or have an impact on the environment. Have I gone mad? Well no, you may have heard of Second Life, a 3D virtual world which has over 1million residents.

Environmentally friendly travel with Second Life
Royal Mail not on strike - it must be virtual.

Environmentally friendly travel with Second Life
STA Travel virtual office and my rather funky Hawaiian shirt.

Travel companies like STA Travel, Starwood Hotels and Costa Cruises have spent I would suspect a lot of money promoting their brand on Second Life, and Lonely Planet organise a weekly trivia content where residents can get together and participate.

Do I take a cruise, visit the scenic STA Island or stay in a virtual hotel or loft for my next trip?
