I should really go to bed but for some reason I have my writing head on even though I have to be up in five hours for the ‘full-time’ job. Anyway, the news this week that Apple are launching a new look iPod touch has me all excited.

What's Your Favorite Travel Gadget?

Not only does it look ultra cool, but it has WiFi, which means I can surf the net on the move.. Most of you probably use your iPod primarily to listen to music, but I find it useful when I am going away on my travels.

I download a few audio travel guides and video guides on the destination, so whilst I am sat on the plane, I can plan what I want to go see whilst I am there. In addition to my iPod I always take my Fujifilm Digital SLR camera because I love taking photographs.

What gadgets do you take on your holidays or do you prefer to travel light?

I definately take my Ipod with me when I am travelling, even if it is only a short distance! I would be so bored if I didn’t! You’re right though- I never do anything with my iPod but listen to mus

I suffer from a curse of getting travel sick if I read while I’m travelling so a iPod is the perfect solution- I can just relax and listen to some really good music!

Yes, I like my iPod. I’m considering this to put in a laptop:

I wonder if I’m going to be asked to empty the coins at every security checkpoint though, but it will make my packing more compact.

I take the laptop everywhere with me especially since a lot of the international airports I visit have Wi-fi

Yes, I think I’m going to treat myself to the new iPhone touch. Like the idea of the Wifi connection for on the move. The screen looks larger too, because it’s got rid of the wheel.

Do you not mean ipod touch Darren?

I heard that 02 have the iphone contract.

Wont be buying it if thats the case, terrible at customer service.

Yes, sorry I meant the iPod touch.

I wouldn’t get the iPhone myself, 1) because of 02 and 2) I very rarely use a mobile phone.

Hm, I usually try to leave my tech behind when I’m taking a true vacation, but if I’m traveling and will be doing work, I take my laptop. Not sure a laptop is very gadgety, but… mine’s sleek and lightweight at least. :)

Oh, I do have to take my iPod everywhere. I can’t workout without music, and podcasts are great for passing the time in cars and on flights. And, yes, I have to take the digital camera. I guess I’m moderately gadgety after all.

That new model iPod you pictured looks like something I might have to get too!

I have no gadgets but I’d like to buy a digital camera, which would you recommend?

Darren Cronian | 22 September, 2007 at 11:21 am

Rohan,

That’s a difficult question to answer.

Do you have a digital camera at the moment and what is your budget?

It does seem as if the iPod is the most favorite travel gadget. It should come as no surprise, then, that travel services for the iPod are gaining prominence. Take our web site http://www.walki-talki.com as one example. Walking tours that you can take on your iPod, iPhone, mp3 player, PDA, or ANY device that can play back mp3 files.
