I’m back – yes, I took a few days out of being online to spend probably the last days we’ll have of summer, walking along Ilkley Moor. Anyway, I read an interesting article on Travolution today regarding a survey undertaken by You Gov.

Where do You Go For Travel Advice?

An online survey of more than 2,000 people in association with consultancy Logan Todd suggests only 22% of consumers look to the trade for advice, with 70% preferring to put their faith in family and friends and 47% turning to online reviews.

July is a busy month for the Travel Rants blog because traditionally it’s when a high percentage of consumers go on their holidays, and are looking for travel advice.

Looking at my stats for July, over 18,200 keyword terms were used in the search engines to find travel related advice, ranging from ‘best exchange rate’ to ‘air passenger duty’

The internet is a powerful tool for the travel consumer – but who do you trust?
