In April, I wrote a blog post about my feelings on travel affiliate sites which didn’t go down in some quarters and is still generating some discussion. My main concern was that there were affiliate sites displaying the ABTA and ATOL logo when in fact they weren’t members of these associations.

One site was a clone of another travel website from a reputable company, with an ABTA logo of another reputable travel operator, and is surprisingly still live. The internet has changed how we book our holidays, and whilst online booking has many advantages, we need to ensure that consumers have a pleasant experience.
I have no gripe with companies, who use affiliate advertising within its website content, and sites like Holiday Watchdog do this very well, but I still stand by my comments that travel companies who offer affiliate advertising should vet and ensure that affiliates aren’t over stepping the mark.
