I recently mentioned that the Times have published the Holiday Handbook, which I started to read last week, well Frommer’s contacted me a few days after that blog post went live to ask me if I would write a review of their new destination family guides.

Frommers Family Holiday Guides

In the post arrived seven Frommer’s with your family travel guides, which I have passed on to friends who have kids, and will be coming back to me within the next week with their opinion on the guides, but first impressions are that there are impressed.

I’m also reviewing a book written by Robert Twigger called Lost Oasis, which was sent to me last week too, so have a guess what I am going to be doing for the next six months, yep, reading travel books! I’m just hoping that an owner of a five star hotel will contact me to write a review next hahaa

These books sound exactly what I have been looking for.

What destinations do they feature?

Yes, I’ll be interested in receiving more information about these guides.

We are planning a big family trip to the USA next year.

Do you know if these family guides have any US destinations?

Rob,

I’ve not received any US family guides, but I will contact them and find out if they plan to publish any in the future.

Thank you Christine :)

I travel regularly with my kids so would be interested to know how you find these books.

One of the things I do, to decide whether a certain series of Guides is what I’m looking for, is look at their guide of the country I live in or know well.

If the guide to that place features the places that I love and leads you away from what I abhor then I’m willing to buy their Guide for a country that I don’t know.

It is always a gamble…. and I normally end up buying more than one guide… I think I may be a travel guide junkie!
