Controversial as this post may be, Mathieu from Raderon created the interesting t-list, and he’s a great guy, but I wish someone would kill that bloody t-list. I thought I could get away with visiting Facebook without coming into contact with it, but some bright spark, has created a t-list group.

The Death of the t-list

Call me an old misery, boo and hiss at me in the street, throw rotten tomatoes at my travel blog, but I’m in the mood for a revolt, so this travel ranter is finally calling for an end to the t-list, let it rest in peace, and never let it be mentioned around these parts again.

Comments welcome below :D

Darren, I have to say that I don’t disagree with you on this issue. I’ve created the t-list for fun and also to see the impact it could have in the tourism&travel bloggers environment.

If you take a look at my own blog, you’ll see that I talked about the t-list only once since it’s started. Exactly the same number of times you did. I’m not the hardest defender of the T-list. haha ; )

I’m bored of the T-List itself but if there is something to remember from it, it’s that there are a lot of tourism&travel bloggers which would like to connect with each other. Is it good or bad? I don’t think there is something bad doing that. I don’t have personally any particular plan about it but I guess that some people do. Good for them.

I found some interesting blogs/people with it so I’m totally happy. ; )

Mathieu, I was writing that slightly tongue in cheek, and whilst it has promoted some great travel blogs [and some not so great]

I think its died its death now, and I am sure partly the reason why people are carrying it on is to hope it becomes as popular as it was when you started the 1st post.

I for one learnt a few things from sites like Technorati from it.

Ha Ha Darren

I dislike the name because it looks like the T-Shirt List, but I like the idea. I also like the sort of attention it drew from fellow travel bloggers for each others blogs. So a community is not so bad idea. The Facebook community is not the only community that came from it. I would suggest the whole thing is a good extension of the introduce yourself idea of your good self.

It seems to me you are having a bit too much to do lately:….you could have done more with your Blog A Thong….Putting your other Blog for Sale.

Are you maybe preluding on the end of this Blog?

Or can I with this post make you a bit more enthusiastic as you once did with me?

Haha Yeh I would of liked to have worked more on promoting the blog-a-thoN but I work full time, run a travel business, write and promote Travel Rants, and in the process of selling off a few of my other sites.

You couldnt get me any more enthusiastic about writing on this blog, as you can see I’ve been bloging like a maniac lately :)

Glad my kick up the bum did the trick for you though ;)

I was quite amused when I saw your post Darren.

To be honest, when Mathieu created the T-List back in March of this year, and when I saw it growing (even though the constant updates got a bit annoying), I discovered quite a few new great travel-related blogs, which I probably otherwise I would have never found. So I think it was a great idea!

The idea to put the T-List on Facebook (could have been any other community site as well), was just to move from a static list (let’s call it Web 1.0) to connecting with all these name-less blogs and bloggers (let’s call it Web 2.0) – like putting faces and names to blogs.

I think, most of us share a common passion and are similar in a way that we articulate our thoughts and ideas on our blogs. That’s great! But getting all together at one virtual place to connect just seemed a logical next step. And I know that Karin is getting together with fellow bloggers in Austria – while we are getting together here in Vancouver occasionally.

I appreciate your post Darren as I agree that it is not about the T-List itself (I think that’s what you mean), but more about how we can leverage it as a tool. Just my thoughts.

(I posted a similar discussion on the Facebook community, but I wasn’t sure if you are going to go there) :)

Perhaps I am just being grumpy, but I never got listed on the T-list!

The T-List has about as much chance for longetivity as yahoo had in 1995 running a human edited website directory…. it just doesn’t scale well over time.

Never mind

Mr Grumpy [only jokin! ;) ]

Alot of the t-list was non commercial blogs, and whilst I’ve only visited the blog a few times, it comes across as being commercial. I think also its alot to do with networking.. I think I was just in the right place and the right time.

@Alex: Do you know Mahalo? ;)

@Darren: It smells that there is an attempt of a Tlist revival. No kidding.. this thing has no end. We should come up with something new (not just another name)…
