Today, I received a ranting email regarding the single person supplement. I’ve blogged about this before, because as a single traveller, I am charged a hefty amount for hotels and package holidays. Anna, recently searched for a holiday with Going Places, and found that she had to pay over £165 more because she was going on holiday alone.

Holidays for Singles

As Anna mentioned, they are specialised companies who offer Single holidays, who say they don’t include single person supplement, but were much more expensive than booking from a high street travel agency, so in other words they are taking advantage of single travellers.

What puts me off these specialise single people holidays, is they expect you to participate in with the group of single travellers, and well, it sounds unsocisable, but the reason why I travel alone is because I want to do my own thing – I socialise with other holidaymakers, but I don’t want to be forced.

Well if that’s the case then travel alone and stay alone at hotels as you travel, many pensions, tavernas and small hotels don’t charge single supplements if you arrive and book a room. The idea of a ‘Singles’ holiday is to be sociable and help make OTHER’s holidays a success who do like to be part of a group, although it seems that isn’t one of your priorities
