One of my favourite travel communities, Travellerspoint have recently launched a wiki-based destination guide along with the sites other tools and services for travellers.

Travellerspoint 2.0 continued

You might be thinking, nothing new, but, Travellerspoint have over 100,000 members, who are keen to share their experiences, so, it’s going to be pretty amazing, and a useful resource for those in need of some travel ideas and inspiration.

Editor, Eric Daams told me:

We also allow users to add images from our featured photo gallery into wiki articles. Our featured photo gallery consists of over 6,400 gorgeous photos, hand-picked from over 115,000 uploaded pictures, so we believe this is going to give our guide a visual appeal that other wiki travel guides lack.

When I get some spare time I’ll be having a good browse around.

I’m one of the members of travellerspoint, and have been working on filling out some of the content in the guide. I think it’ll be really great, but obviously the more people participating, the better the content will be. Hopefully some of the travel rant readers can come over and share some of their insight on their favorite destinations or some tips that only locals would know on their home towns.

Cheers,
Greg

Yep, really 100,000 members.

The guys have done a great job promoting Travellerspoint.

Greg, I am sure they will be a lot of people wanting to get involved, I’ll be checking it out myself when I get some time. Thanks for dropping by.
