My dad’s just come back from a week’s family holiday in Portugal, and as usual I asked my dad what the airline was like, the holiday accommodation, did you face and problems whilst in resort, etc, and this was the start of a rant about charter airlines, and that he’ll never book a flight with one again.

A Charter airline experience

The airline told passengers that there was a delay due to issues with the plane, so they sat it out at Manchester airport for 3 hours, and then finally they started to embark, on to the airplane.

As soon as everyone was sat down, the captain informed everyone that there was now a problem with the door – in that it wouldn’t shut properly! At this point my sister, who hates flying, went white as a sheet, and one lady decided that the flight was cursed, and she tried to get off the plane.

An hour later, the door fixed hurray, time to depart – oh but no, the captain, came on again and said, that the baggage hadn’t all being loaded, even though at this point they had an hour whilst the door was being fixed.

Finally, five hours later, they departed, arrived at the villa in Portugal at 8pm, shattered, hungry and in the need for alcohol. To be honest, this could happen on a charter or schedule airline, but because of the experience, my dad will never fly on a chartered airline again.

p.s this is my last blog post until Friday, as I am heading to the Lake District for a few days.

What’s the difference between a charter airline and a schedule airline?
