I’ve had a few rants in the past, about the price of mobile phone calls, and it appears that the European Union is finally going to do something about this con in time for the Summer holiday season, and holidaymakers can expect a fall as much as 75% due to the capping of roaming charges.

Mobile Phone Roaming charges to be capped in Europe

It’s worth pointing out that this capping does change charges for text and data services, which are still going to be expensive. I predict though an increase in the price of other services and domestic calls to make up for the lost revenue, because as people keep telling me businesses have to make money.

The BBC goes into detail if you want to read more about the changes.

It’s bloody disgusting what these companies charge.

Finally someone is doing something about it but like you Darren I suspect that prices will go up elsewhere.

We’ll see Rohan.

If the airlines ignore EU directives, what’s stopping mobile companies doing the same?

To be honest I don’t know how they have got away with it for so long.
