Email arrives in my inbox from Reuven Levitt, CEO of Trip Technologies Inc, and my instant reaction is to think, oh not another trip social networking site. I was surprised though, and I’m addicted, to a very useful site called Tripbase.com

How many times have you thought where can I go on holiday? I’ve a list of destinations I want to visit before I’m 40, and next year I’m planning a big trip to the USA and Canada, so I thought I would test this out on Tripbase.
I chose the level for nightlife, dining, shopping, nature and attractions, and then clicked on submit – the site then gave me tons of destinations across the World which matched my requirements. I then filtered the results so only destinations in North America appear.
The results were quick, the site looks good, and you can filter out other results, not just continent – I’m addicted, so try it out for yourself and come back here and let me know what you think.

Do you think the site looks good? Must be my computer!

haha Garri.
Yes, I think it looks good. The only improvement would be to the background so it’s not so white.

it’s a bit fiddly and the UI needs tons of work, but it is in alpha I guess (one notch below beta)

Garri,
I dont come from a design background, I’m just reviewing it based on it’s usefulness, and personally, I found the site very useful.

It is a very slick site indeed in terms of ‘ajaxiness’ as I like to call it
There doesn’t seem to be anything unique to the content and most of it is conveniently ‘lifted’ from other sites (doesn’t wikitravel have an issue with their content being reused under a different license for example? And the flickr shots; can they just be used like that?), but that would change over time I guess.
Someone who built that really knows how to use javascript though!
