Whilst wading through the backlog of emails, I found a press release from a research company which stated within its release “Overseas travel, particularly short-haul is as easy as clicking 1-2-3 and customers struggle to see the need for a specialist travel advisor.”

I wonder if this research company has recently booked a holiday online, because it’s certainly not as easy as 1-2-3 from my own experiences. I’ve ranted on enough about what I dislike about booking online, and thought maybe I am missing something – is online travel as easy as 1-2-3.

I think booking online *is* easy. It doesn’t take much, you really can just click through, enter a credit card, and voila, you’ve got your holiday. What’s not easy is understanding the terms of what you’ve purchased or, heaven forbid, making a change. That’s when things really start to unravel.

Pam, I agree in principle this should be an easy transaction, but in reality, the majority of transcations aren’t for various reasons, including the ones you mention.

I think it all depends on what you are actually buying and who you are buying it from. I had a real problem for exmaple buying travel insurance a while back with any company due to being aged above 65 and I have pre-existing medical conditions. But nowadays I think companies are becoming more aware of the general users needs and are changing the way in whoch they work to accomodate the likes of us. I’m sure this also applies to buying the physical holiday itself.

We had a story yesterday of a couple trying to save money by doing it “DIY”
Sure they found flights at a reasonable return Price.
They checked in the day before yesterday in Tenerife, at least by 11.00a.m for their flight back to Birmingham due to leave at 13.00.
The Only problem being is the actual flight they had booked was for 01.00 and not 13.00 So many people don’t understand the 24 hour clock!!
The only flight they could get back was in to Manchester at a further cost of £300.00 each
SOME SAVING EH !!!!!!

Lee, what would have happened if they had booked this holiday through a travel agency?
If they had missed there flight with a travel agency wouldn’t they have had to pay for the flight back home?

If it had been booked through a Travel Agency Darren, The Correct Flights would have been booked in the first place.
End of.

Ive given up booking online, I want to speak to someone when I have a question.
and Lee, that would not have stopped them visiting the airport at 13.00 instead of 01.00
Surely they could have waited until 01.00 and get the plane they had booked?
