I enjoy reading blogs – especially blogs that help you research a holiday destination. I have tons of RSS feeds on my reader, and have recently added a few interesting blogs. Karen’s Europe A La Carte Blog gives a good insight into various European destinations, especially about her home country of Scotland.

I’ve enjoyed reading Lonely Planet’s Blog which has over 300 writers and discuss all aspects of travel and features some interesting destination guides, like the El Hierro, the eco-friendly island blog entry.
Holiday forums are incredibly useful if you have questions about your holiday destination or accommodation. My favourites are AardvarkTravel, Holiday Truths, Holiday Watchdog
Then don’t forget the reliable and very useful Wikipedia, which has tons of destination related content for you to read through – find out the climate, history, tourism information on thousands of holiday destinations, from Australia to Zimbabwe.
Have fun surfing!

Thanks for the mention Darren. I am in the middle of writing a guide to Perthshire in Scotland. I think ithat you don’t always appreciate your own locality. I have always loved my home country of Scotland and enjoyed the beautiful countryside. However when I started my travel business in 2002 I think I was bit blinkered to what was close to home. However now my focus in also on promoting less well known destinations in the UK. This is for 2 reasons because I think they are great places to visit and I think that UK residents will start to take more short breaks and holidays in the UK.

No problem Karen
I think we are all blinkered with regard to what we have on our doorstep. I live within 20 minutes of Ikley Moor [and the Emmerdale set!] and the Yorkshire Dales, and don’t visit as much as I do.
I blog on about destinations abroad but don’t mention Leeds, which is a great weekend break destination!

We hope you still find time to Visit Great Malvern as well Darren.
we’re too busy normally to fully appreciate the hills, but we are in a good central point for people to Make Great Malvern a base for a long week-end and Visit places such as Stratford, Warwick, Ross-on-Wye, Symonds yat, Birmingham Upton-upon-Severn ( a must during The Jazz festival) The Cotswolds,
There’s so much to go and Visit as well as find time To Walk the Hills

Malvern is certainly somewhere I’d like to visit, especially walking over Malvern Hills. Me and my youngest brother usually go camping for a week during the year, and are looking for a destination for this year.
