The great exchange rate between the GBP £ and the US $ has seen an increase in travellers flocking to New York, and whilst this sounds very inviting, it’s worth bearing in mind that you have to declare products bought in the US totalling over £145, and those that don’t declare these goods could be prosecuted.

I have to say I was tempted myself, with flights as cheap as £249 from Manchester airport according to Cheapflights.com and New York hotels starting from £51 a night (great compared to London hotel prices) on Hotels.com.

We are thinking about going in January, but I didn’t know about the £145 declaration.
