With the massive delay in the building of the National Football Stadium, at Wembley, there’s a doubt in my mind that the building of the Olympic stadium, arenas and village will be built in time for the start of the Olympics games, in London 2012.

An email lands into my inbox today to inform me of the launch of a new blog that will open the door on the London 2012 project – right now you can see video of tunnelling activity on the site, read an athlete’s perspective on the new Aquatics Centre design and go behind the scenes with Seb Coe on the recent Royal visit to Greenwich Park.

If the Olympics are ready for 2012 I’ll run around Covent Gardens, naked with just a white Yorkshire rose between my arse cheeks.

rohan: i imagine that is a sight VisitBritain will not be using in their promotion material for the games…

wonder if they’ll starting moderating comments if the build-up starts to go terribly wrong – not that it will, of course.

Rohan, please I’m eating breakfast
Kevin, as soon as they start to receive comments from unsavory types I suspect they will turn on moderation. We’ll see.

What are we complaining about though? Wouldn’t it be nice if a construction project was actually finished when the public was told it would be?

Hi Chris,
I don’t think we are complaining about anything, other than they are doubts in the media and general public that the Olympic stadiums and village will be built in time for the Olympic games.
I think the blog is a good idea, and has probably being promoted now because of the recent press attention about the delays starting the building of the Olympic site – the blog will help improve some of the concerns.

they should take a leaf out of the Emirates stadium book. a fine structure, on budget, on time, for a fantastic team.
Darren Cronian | 3 December, 2006 at 3:14 pm
I agree Kev, apart from the fantastic team

Alright, complaining wasn’t the right word there. I’m not exactly awake at the moment.

Sorry, I got a little carried away.
I hope that it is ready, and that it’s as magnificent as the Greece Olympics.
