Finishing off my list of top 10’s for 2006 is a list of my favourite travel companies that I have used since being bitten by the travel bug. I have to say that whilst the internet is a great place to research, plan and book your holiday, you can’t beat the personal touch.

You cant beat that Personal Touch

Here’s my top 10 travel companies

10. GNER
9. Jet2.com

GNER, appeared in my top list of travel companies, because of it’s excellent WiFi service, comfortable trains and reliable service. Jet2.com simply appeared because they have offered low cost flight opportunities for us Yorkshire folk!

8. Ryanair
7. Travelbag
6. Malaysian Airways

Malaysian & Qantas airways are, two of my favourite airlines, because after travelling on eight planes in 3 ¼ weeks, I had no delays, and no baggage losses – very friendly hostesses, and it was a pleasure to fly with them.

5. Qantas Airways
4. Prague Airport Shuttle

Prague Airport Transfer deserve a mention, because they made my trip to Prague so stress less – picked me up at the airport on time, took me to my hotel doorstep, and the drivers were knowledgeable about the local area so could tell me where to go and where not to.

3. Ebookers
2. My Travel
1. Select World Travel

Select World Travel, I felt these guys deserve this No1 spot because of their professionalism, helpfulness, and the fact that they have changed my opinion on travel agents. Lee & his team were helpful, understanding and you could tell that they wanted to help you – all of the traits that I have ranted about travel agents in the past.

Thank you all for helping me travel around the World, and have fun doing it!

We feel very proud Darren to be at the top of your list , especially as you have included some very big names.

Our Ethos has always been to be able to offer a first class service and offer the client what he wants and not what the travel agency wants to sell.
We feature a greater range of Tour Operator brochures than most other agencies, and are also an AITO Specialist Travel Agency.

Our Consultants are widely travelled and put together great destination Portfolios of Hotels, resorts and take time to get to know Managers and reservations staff whilst away on educational trips.
Through our Award Winning Blog at http://www.selectworld.travel , we are now able to showcase those portfolios with Photographs and also Videos.

We are also hosting our Own Travel Show at the Malvern Theatres on 28th January and will be showcasing each Tour Operator that will be attending on the blog site as well.

The World of Travel is constantly changing, and you can’t just sit still, We like to think we are 1 step ahead of our competitors with standards of service and to be noted as nos 1( and nos 3 for our blog) on Travel Rants is a great accolade for us.

Lee, I meant what I said about your travel agency changing how I felt about travel agents, and it’s certainly a shame they aren’t more travel agencies like Select World Travel.

I’d like to know more about the Travel Show, in Malvern, drop me an email, might be interested in popping down to do an article on the show, if you allow travel blogger press into the event ;)

It’s looking like it. I’m struggling to get up to speed with Web 2.0 so can we delay 3.0 until the middle of 2007!

Get a grip Dazza, rather than working 20 hours a day, spend the other 4 hours developing travel rants into 4.0 and then sleep when your a multi millionnaire.

I wish Rohan!

I’m now more aware what web 2.0 thanks to the Travolution conference which I attended in November.

I have no idea what 3.0 will bring though, but I must admit its all very exciting.

Came across this great sea-side project whilst traipsing through darkest Rawai (Phuket)

I was wanting to buy a unit for ever, but the thing that swayed me here was the fact that the project includes free fractional ownership of a 89ft schooner (Lady Anita) and a few other toys to boot!

Cheers
