I asked a number of people today, the same question. The response was interesting with answers that Andorra is located in Italy, Chile or somewhere in South America. So where the hell is Andorra - it is a small principality located in the Pyrenees Mountains and bordered by France and Spain.

Andorra’s population is 67,313, and its largest city and capital is Andorra la Vella – for those visiting Andorra the official languages are Catalan, Spanish, and French and it’s rumored to be one of the richest European countries because of tourism and its status as a tax haven.
It’s worth knowing that Andorra is not a member of the European Union, so as they are not part of the EU, they are not subject to EU regulations and your European Health Insurance Card is not acceptable there. Therefore it’s important that you take out adequate travel insurance – especially when skiing.
If visiting Andorra for skiing then the most popular ski resorts are Arinsal, La Massana, Pas de la Casa and Soldeu. Each resort has unique slopes and aspects that cater particularly well for beginners and intermediates and I understand that Andorra has some of the best teaching facilities for beginners in Europe.
One of the main reasons why Andorra is not a popular tourist destination by Brits and other Europeans is that Andorra does not have an airport, although there have been some proposals put forward to build one. Andorra though, can be reached via several airports in neighbouring France (especially Toulouse) or Spain (especially Barcelona and Girona.)

i’m sure the residents of Andorra often ask one another: “Where the hell is Leeds?”… ![]()

We travelled via Barcelona - many years ago to Andorra…and it was really a very special place. it was our first time skiing - the boys were young then, and the area was beautiful, with the most welcoming hotels and restaurants. Plus it really was cheap!!

I’m sure they do Kev
Carol, sounds great - you would think though, that there would be an airport, as that would increase tourism in the country even more. I guess alot of French and Spanish go, but it’s not a country that rolls off your tongue when looking at holiday destinations.

Hello, this is nieves from Barcelona Apartments.
Andorra is from Barcelona, 3 hours by car.
It’s nice country, although it’s very small.
Tax free and so peolpe in Spain used to go to Andorra to buy some butter, tabacco, and some sugar. I don’t know why, but it was much cheaper in Andorra. Now there isn’t such a difference.
