Having been to mastihari on several occasions. we have tried most of the eateries and found to our taste and my palate the tasty palace is the best as the accomodate the fussy eaters like me. The appartments adjacent to the resturant are cleaned every day beds changed every other day and the owner is really pleasant are all of the family. we have staed at maria parvaki.s rooms again lovely and clean and the family are really nice to stay with. if we cant get te tasty palace accomodation we stay with them. We are of to get our mastihari fix in june this year(08) , the comment about no tattooed beer monster is very apt for mastihari. ( long may it continue)

I guess we're fortunate in my having been all over the world since the sixties - I'd love to return to some ( and miss others by half a continent or so) - but Greece ticks all my boxes.
We're using our holidays to spot our eventual "place to live" when I can afford to pack in work and decamp to Greece permanently.
Mastichari was always on our "must return" conversational list - and Kos is pretty good all round, too. It's not all "Kardamena and chips"!
But Mastichari - great to unwind, friendly people, access to Kalymnos, Bodrum ( a great day out for both purchasers of copy designer stuff (that will fall apart on the first wash!) and culture vultures to compare the differences (and certain similarities) of Greek life and Turkish life combined with an excellent museum in the castle), watching the sun set over Kalymnos with the obligatory cold Mythos/Heineken prior to excellent food!
And no tattooed beer monsters looking for John Smiths and a "good karaoke" - now there's an oxymoron - "good karaoke" !
Just friendly, hospitable Greek people well versed in the phiosophy of "filoxenia".

Hi Dave,

I want to go back there this year, but they are so many places I want to visit. Maybe in a few years when I have got the travelling bug out of my system that I might start to visit Mastichari more often.

It's a shame about the cost, I am sure Lee, who works for Select World Travel could shed more light on this. I did notice that Christine who runs the Tasty Palace has apartments for rent.

I might be tempted to look for a flight and book an apartment there. It would be a great location as the apartments overlook the beach and sea.
