OMG something as prestigious as the British Travel Awards has the worse designed website I have come across in my 17 months of being a Travel Blogger. Not only is the website horrendous to look at, but the main content is within a frame, which makes it incredibly difficult to navigate.

British Travel Awards Nominations announced

Will someone please get these guys a website designer – even so the nomination process is complete and as a consumer you can now vote for categories like favourite Travel Agent, Airline, Ski resort etc.

The award ceremony will take place on 9 November, so make your vote known – surprisingly Travel Rants wasn’t nominated within the ‘Best Travel Information Online’ category so why don’t you nominate me if you really think this blog provides the best travel information.

Ed – my favourite on the list is Trip Advisor followed very closely by Travel Rants, but then I am biased.

I no very little about website design, but on my 15″ monitor, I have to scroll down and across to see the content. Not designed well at all.

Darren, I think you were being charitable with your critique and my comments regarding the site design are suitable for Travel Rants ;-)

There should of course be a law that forbids certain so-called web ‘designers’ to own computers, let alone be allowed on to the internet.

I should’ve said: my comments regarding the site design are UNsuitable for Travel Rants ;-)

Unfortunatly Darren, travel agents is not one of the categories, although there are the TTG Travel agents awards which is usually a Regional Award and am happy to say that This year Select World Travel were shortlisted for Best Agency, Best Sales Person, Best Marketing Campaign and We were delighted to be the Winners of the Innovation award for our blog.
Just got back from Dubai so will be producing a report shortly.

Mikey, your right, I’m too nice - I had a look at it on a 17″ monitor and it looked a little better, but a designer should never create a site for one browser, or one screen resolution or size.

Lee, you can vote for your favourite retail travel agent, which to people like me, it means a travel agent - is this different and how?

On the Travel agents Voting, it is only shown on the Consumer voting, wheras We fill in the trade voting forms, which doesn’t have the category for best travel agency. It is the first time that the Public have been allowed to vote for these awards, which should make it fairer, as in the past it always used to be the same old names being voted for.
So if any of your consumers are reading this Darren, they know it makes sense to Vote for Select World Travel Malvern,( T892X)
