I am planning to be on holiday around 14th October – I need a week away, cold beer, nice weather and beach, a relaxing holiday. I’ve had a look around at holiday deals, and I’m going to take Lee’s advice from Select World Travel and go to the Greek Island of Kos.

The flight is around four hours long, and I need to get organised and give Lee a call to get something booked – but my dilemma is what books do I take on my holiday? I’ll be almost certainly taking my iPod, and will need to charge it, so what adapter will I need to allow me to do this?
I’ve heard that Kos and other Greek Islands have a major problem with mosquitoes, since I’ve never had this problem on my travels in the past – what should I be taking to make sure they don’t eat me up like a tasty English pork chop?
I’m going alone – I know Billy no mates, but I need space away from family and friends, and work, and just relax – think about the future and which direction I want to head in – I’ve learnt this year that life is too short, and you have to no regrets.

Just awaiting the Phone Call Darren
Book to Take- Air Babylon
Mosquitos shouldn’t be a Problem in October, but take some repellent just in case.
Weather should be fine, but take a light weight sweater for the Evenings, It is the last couple of weeks of the season, so some places may be getting ready to close for the Winter.
Hippocrates Island, Places to see Kos Town and the Asclepion, The Odeon and other Archaeological sites. Place to stay Mastichari. Fabulous beach, Small Fishing Village with enough Tavernas and small Bars for a great Relaxed holiday. With a Ferry link to neighbouring Island Kalymnos ( 35 Mins) known as The Sponge Fisherman’s Island, Well worth a day trip.
Inland, why not take a Car out for the day, and head to PYLI, stop in the Square for a Greek Coffee and a vist to ” The Fountain of Youth” ( It sounds like you need to Darren!!) then on towards Platini, the small Turkish Village before you arrive at The Asclepion. Best to get here before 11.00a.m Then Head into Kos Town for some Shopping. Don’t stop and have lunch here, but after visiting Kos Town head for Zipari and turn left up to the Mountain Village of ZIA
Great Place for Lunch with spectacular Views ( also do Evening Greek Evenings at Marias Garden)
After Lunch head down to the bottom of the Island and spend an hour or two at BUBBLE BEACh or down to Kamari Bay.
Look forward to your call Darren

Cashflow problems for a Travel Blogger. | Travel Rants Blog | 23 September, 2006 at 12:11 pm
[...] How embarrassing – as I mentioned in my previous blog entry about Kos, I called Lee from Select World Travel (who were amazingly helpful!) to book my 7 day relaxing break on the island of Kos. We went through the booking process, and he took my debit card details and would you believe it – I don’t have enough funds in my personal account to cover the £194 for the holiday! [...]

am travelling to Kos alone this year = intrigued to know how your travels went?
Darren Cronian | 6 August, 2007 at 11:41 pm
Sarah, you will love it.
The locals are very friendly, and like you I travelled alone.
I am actually thinking about going back again myself in October, as I enjoyed it so much.
If you want any info drop me an email and I’ll reply back.
Darren
