I love Web 2.0 technology, especially social websites like MyTube – people love taking their own videos and then showing them off to family, friends and anyone else that finds the video.

I visit the likes of Google video and MyTube on a regular basis to find travel videos – that though could soon stop with the introduction of an exciting new project called Travelistic.
The guys at Travelistic asked me to review this exciting project, which is currently a beta version, and allows travellers to upload their video, add tags so that visitors can find videos quickly, identify the location of the video which appears on a Google Map.
Visitors can add comments, and also add the video on their own website – not only can you search by tag, but you can also search for videos by location, which is a very handy feature if your looking for a video on a specific destination.
The video pictures are crisp, very good sound, and overall I was very impressed – what I would like to see is a rating system, and counter on the number of visits / or number of sites linking to the video.
Whilst it doesn’t offer anything different than YouTube, if your looking for travel specific videos, it would be my first port of call – I’d like to see some unique features added, but it has me hooked.
If you’d like to help beta test then visit www.travelistic.com and tell them I sent you! Oh, whilst I remember check out this great holiday video of the Shandrani Resort, in Mauritius - thanks Lee from Select World Travel

Haha are you waiting for me to write a blog entry! I’ve never known someone comment so quickly!
Thanks for your comments, it’s good to be back, I’ve had a tough week, but I’ve come out of it fighting
I’d love to add travel videos on here, its’ something I need to think about as I want to make the site more than just a blog, and more into a travel social community style site.

Thanks for your kind comments Darren, the Video is our first attempt, Next time we Will make it shorter, take a Tripod with us, and better control of panning and Zoom.
It’s a little time consuming, editing and adding Music, titles etc and we have noticed depending on which type of connection people have, how long it all takes to download. We have also noticed that on Google Video, the Frames Freeze at times, So we might play around with different applications to see if they are any better.
I can see a good use for Google Maps for ourselves, I am going to look into what it offers. It Would be great to load all of the destinations our travel Consultants have either visited or have done specialist courses in.
By the way whatever happened to your Bloggers block!!! Have you found a new lease of life, or just fed up with Leeds United!!!!

Lee, I will blog about how I created Google Guest Maps, and how you could use this for what you’ve described above. Re. Leeds United - two words really, Blackwell out! Re. the writers blog, it appears that my writing head has re-appeared.

its cool, lots of short teasers, but will you have any travel shows,? if not, this may just be an info site
Darren Cronian | 13 September, 2006 at 8:48 am
Raines, I’m confused are you one of the developers at Travalistic - you’ve confused me because you have the web address against your comments.

As a YouTube Director Accountholder, I was much interested in your statements about the specificity of this niche video service provider, Travelistic.
I will visit it today, and may, if it’s got super usability and credibility characteristics, follows the Core Values of the Blogosphere, I may then post about it as a test case in alternates and antidotes to YouTube.
The immense amount of bad, boring, worthless videos at YouTube will be it’s doom and the niches will pick up the pieces. my predict.

Wow they’ve got time travel as well - ‘When Mead Was King’ - never heard of King Mead myself ! - but never mind. Great site what a good idea - just what I was thinking about as well - they beat me to it!! I’ve only just mastered digital photography so I think I’ll stick to that for now.
One disappointment - nothing on Kazakstan!
