I’m an administrator of a Flickr Photograph group, which has over 1,700 travel photographs from around the World. Kevin May, editor of Travolution, emailed me this week, directing me to a post on the Travolution blog about Yahoo Mapping within Flickr

Tonight, I took a look at this new technology, and I was impressed – very impressed actually. I was able to zoom into the Yahoo map, and then drop and drag a photograph to the location where the photograph was taken, how cool is that.
You can view the Travel Rants Photograph Group in Yahoo Maps and see it developing as more of the photographs are assigned against a location. Something else I’d like to add – I actually prefer Yahoo’s Mapping interface, over Google’s – for some reason it’s easier to move around and graphically it looks much more pleasing.
Nice work Flickr and Yahoo!

looks good, Rants. good luck assigning all the pictures at location, but it’ll be worth it - a good tool.

You should ask Flickr to add a Map link onto your group — that way, all the pix submitted to the group could be displayed on one map. Currently, pix can be displayed on individual users’ maps, or on the collective public map of everyone in Flickr, but not on a Group map.
It’d likely be relatively easy for them to add a Map navigation feature onto groups. I bet they’d take your suggestion seriously, since you admin a group with a good amount of photos in it.
