Texas – the second largest state of the USA is almost a country in its own. With a wide range of activities and attractions, it’s almost impossible to take in the whole of Texas in one visit. From history and culture; entertainment and shopping, to beaches, deserts and the country-side, Texas has it all.

The Alamo, located in San Antonio is the epitome of Texan history and is indicative of the states struggle for independence. Initially constructed as a Spanish mission, the Alamo played host to the infamous battle with the Mexicans in 1836.

Now, with only the Long Barrack and Chapel intact, the Alamo is a museum displaying the relics of that day and age – providing a breath-taking trip down North American history.

“Sea World Texas” is another fun and exciting destination for people of all ages. It offers a number of learning programs, shows and activities that promise to keep you and your children entertained.

The infamous Riverwalk is a shopping and dining district lying along the banks of the San Antonio River and is a must visit for anyone visiting south or central Texas. As one of San Antonio’s most popular destinations.

The river walk is always bubbling with excitement as people indulge in activities ranging from clubbing, dining and shopping to just taking in the scenery. It is also home to many festivals, and is particularly lively doing the Fiesta Season.

Texas Stadium lying in Irving is one of the most famous sporting attractions in the state. Known as the home of the “Dallas Cowboys,” the stadium is a treat to visit whether it’s to watch the Cowboys in action or to take in the magnificence of the sport.

“The State Capitol”, one of Texas’ most renowned political buildings in Austin, demands at least one visit in a lifetime. The building, in all its magnificence, reeks of the past and speaks boldly of the present. Visitors can take tours and can even sit in on the legislature when it is in session.

“Schlitterbahn” is one of the most famous water-parks in the state, and even with the presence of the more commercial parks in Arlington, the Schlitterbahn on South Padre Island is a famous attraction and is a must visit for any family looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience breaking the pace of your otherwise hectic trip.

Houston’s famed “Johnson Space Center” is yet another attraction, which gained popularity during 1960’s Space Race. It provides a wealth of information and displays related to space and technology, including space shuttles and astronauts, and one can even experience the physical feeling of being in outer space.

The ‘Bob Bullock Story of Texas Museum’ is known as the States official museum and is a great educational destination. It offers a number of displays which introduce visitors to the history of Texas, straight from the beginning.

Another quality Texan attraction, located in Corpus Christi, is the USS Lexington which is a warship from the WWII age. Whether you’re an enthusiast or not, the ship is a beauty to tour and with its convenient location next to the State Aquarium, attracts a number of tourists daily.

Lastly, providing much needed relaxation to most tourists trying to take in all of Texas at once is Sea Rim State Park in South Beaumont. It is a haven for nature-goers, and combines the qualities of a typical beach destination along with the beauty of a nature reserve.
