Travelling with Children tips

I’m not a parent, but I can only imagine how stressful it can be when your travelling with a child – the continuous question “Are we there yet?” can drive you over the edge. As much as I think travel has become cheaper for families with the introduction of low cost airlines, there is a major disadvantage for parents, in that these airlines don’t offer on-board entertainment.

So, how do you keep your child occupied – good question. I suppose keep the activity fun, take travel card games, their favourite toy, a few books. Travelling with a child can be stressful for you and a bore for them!

If your flying to your destination then another problem is the unexpected ear popping, so always warn the child to expect it, so they are not afraid when their ears pop during take off and descent.

I found this blog entry difficult to write, because I can’t relate to travelling with a child, so if you’re a parent, please leave your suggestions, so that other parents reading this blog can learn from your own experiences.

Darren,
I am the master of the game:))I have travelled with my kids far and wide. We have gone from India to Australia with two kids, from Australia to America and have travlled a lot within the States too. One of my posts is about traveling with kids. I have tried to touch upon some useful tips for kid-friendly travel. Although I have mainly talked about traveling by road, some of the tips can be useful even for air travel:)

Did you renew the domain name? It looks like to me that your domain name has expired and someone else has acquired it. Or have you recently bought the domain name but have not used it yet?

Darren,
I had just posted on outwiththekids.com, this morning, tips on surviving (even enjoying)air travel with children. How timely!

In the article I have included many parent and flight tested strategies and ideas for on-board entertainment and dealing with the altitude/ear problems.

Planning a vacation for kids is always not easy. First, you need to be clear of the objective of the vacation eg. for relaxation, for learning, for fun or for unique experiences. Do not be over-ambitious to have many activities in a day. Ensure that kids have sufficient rest and a good night ‘s sleep. Activities for children should ideally be short, interesting and unique to them.
