I remember when I first started writing this travel blog that I had to go and find blogs to feature, now thanks to Google Blogsearch and the Blog searchengine, people are now coming to me asking me to review their travel blog or are linking to my blog.

Travelin’ Tracy kindly linked to my travel blog, so I checked out her blog and enjoyed looking at her pictures of Budapest and Vienna plus reading her travel preparations - my travel blog tip to Tracy would be to think about moving over to Wordpress (it’s free!) - you have complete control of the blog, and you can change your theme, or get one designed like my travel rants blog.

I will check out wordpress. Even though I have been writing for a year I feel very new at website stuff! If it is easier, then it would probably be better for me! Thanks for the suggestion and for the advertising! It really made my day.

It’s probably not going to be easier initially, because you have to set it up, but you have control of the database, and the blog from top to bottom - with a hosted blog like yours - if Google was to loose your data, you would loose all of your blog - where if your in control you can take backups.

I can certainly recommend WordPress as great blogging software. If you want to get used to it first before taking the plunge though, you can get a free and virtually fully featured hosted blog, powered by wordpress, from wordpress.com Then when you are used to the interface and how it all works, and have decided if you even want to use it, you can then get your own copy and host it yourself.
