The Indonesian resort island of Bali has been hit by at least two explosions, the British embassy in Jakarta has confirmed. The Associated Press reports that three Western tourists have been injured.

The blasts happened at Kuta beach, the area most popular with Western tourists, and at Jimbaran beach. Almost three years ago, more than 200 people - mostly foreign tourists- were killed when bombs ripped through two nightclubs at Kuta beach.

An official at Bali police headquarters told Reuters news agency that officers were on their way to the scene of the explosions. “We don’t know yet what happened exactly,” he said.
