A leading Yorkshire lawyer has warned people in Leeds to review the terms of their booking and travel insurance carefully before cancelling holidays. The recent car bombs in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt, which killed 88 people and injured more than 100, have caused Irwin Mitchell, whose West Yorkshire headquarters are in Queen Street, Leeds, to report a number of enquires from concerned families about their rights if they cancel.
Alex Greaves, of the firm’s commercial litigation team, said: “We’re advising holidaymakers to check the small print on their booking forms and travel insurance, to see what they are entitled to and what exclusions apply, before they cancel.
“Where they or a tour operator cancel a forthcoming holiday due to reasons beyond their control, they can expect a full refund or substitute holiday.
“But if the Foreign & Commonwealth Office is not advising against travel to a particular destination, currently the case with Egypt, the tour operator will usually contend it’s safe to travel and customer fears are not a valid reason for cancellation.”

In Ireland I know all tour operators were offering cancellations, with full refund for anyone due to travel in the month after the bombings in Egypt.Nothing to do with insurance at all.
