People booking last-minute cheap holiday deals are being misled about the true cost of the package, a survey claims. The report says that hidden extras such as in-flight meals, tickets issued on departure and fuel supplements can all drive the price up by 20 per cent.

A late bargain break advertised for just £269 per person can end up costing more than £300. The Co-op’s annual Holiday Report found that a third of Brits booking late packages felt that they had been ‘hoodwinked’ by the initial cut-price deal.
