UK holidaymakers are adopting a more self-service approach to travel and are increasingly turning to the Internet to book their holidays. Daniel Thomas reports. As broadband becomes more widely available more consumers will look to book their holidays online.

As the holiday season moves into full swing people are scrambling to escape the miserable, unpredictable British weather, and an increasing number of holidaymakers are turning to the Internet to book their breaks in the sun.

With the number of broadband providers offering affordable, high speed internet access in the household more of us are moving towards online travel to plan, search and book our holiday. BT until recently had a monopoly which meant that other telecommunication companies found it difficult to provide broadband to households and businesses.
It is envisaged that by 2010 most households will have access to the internet in the home. Not only on personal computers, but available on televisions and game consoles.
